Seoul court declares Hanjin bankrupt

The Seoul court declared Hanjin bankrupt after a two-week period during which it was possible to file an appeal. The company's liquidation process has been launched, Splash 24/7 reports.
Creditors must submit claims by May 1 in order to start the assessment on June 1. The court promised to do everything possible to repay the creditors.
According to Vesselvalue, to date, Hanjin has 42 vessels left – 29 container ships, 12 bulk carriers and one low-tonnage cargo ship, the total cost of the fleet is estimated at $ 986 million. For comparison, in 2014, the Korean line had a fleet of 104 vessels with a total estimated value of $ 3.77 billion.
